Options For Your Outdoor Kitchen

Outdoor kitchens not only provide you for your own personal getaway, but they also allow you to enjoy the outdoors – either by yourself or with your family and your friends.  The nice thing about an outdoor kitchen is that it can be as plain or classy as you want.  You can add all sorts of accessories to help brighten up the area, create a place to entertain or simply a place to sit back and relax and enjoy the cool night air.  Some of the best ideas are things you probably haven’t even thought about yet!  The sky is the limit, depending on the size of your space of course, but even with a smaller space, you can create the outdoor kitchen of your dreams.  Here are a few options to consider for your outdoor kitchen.

Pergolas

Some people associate pergolas with a garden, but they are used for much more than that! These pergolas are a superb way to add an extra layer of cover to your outdoor area.  These are free standing structures that are usually made out of wood. Not only do pergolas add another sense of architecture, but they are also useful as cover from the hot sun.  You can place chairs or even large tables and chairs underneath your pergola to really set the tone for your outdoor kitchen area.  You can also have these pergolas painted so that they can look like they match with your outdoor area, rather than just a standing structure that someone haphazardly put there.

Walkways and Patios

If you plan to create an outdoor eating and cooking area, you really need to consider the type of foundation you want.  Sure, grass is fine.  But, if you want to keep the mud, dirt and bugs at bay, you should consider building a patio.  The material you choose will depend on the look you want.  You can choose something like a concrete patio which is a great option if you want to save some money.  The great thing about concrete is that you can get it stamped which means more designs and more options for your patio.

Outdoor Fireplaces

If you choose to opt out of the heat lamps for whatever reason, you can still create a warm space by using an outdoor fireplace. These fireplaces are usually set inside of a brick and mortar foundation. They can be as small or as large as you want them to be or for the space you have available. Most of the classic outdoor fireplaces use wood rather than electric to heat the fireplace up. Besides that, wood and a real flame can also set the ambiance at your next party or get together. Place a few chairs and possibly a coffee table around the fireplace and you can create a warming atmosphere that people are going to be fighting over to sit by!

Grills

If you’re going to want to cook outside, whether its a really expansive kitchen or a smaller one, you will need a place to cook!  Besides just regular grills, you can also find other ways to cook food, keep food warm and even find products that will “present” food for your guests such as buffets, containers, etc.  Here are a few of my favorite grills, griddles, and of course smokers.  There are two important things about grills I want to mention.  First off, there are different kinds of grills, griddles, and smokers.  Secondly, this is one of those products where BRANDS do matter!  Most of these brands, however, are ones you’ve heard of!

Best Pizza Oven

Pizza ovens are a really cool appliance to have for the outdoors, especially if you or your family loves homemade pizza. If you don’t have thousands of dollars to invest in a brick oven pizza oven, that’s okay, you still have other options available such as this one. Its from Blackstone and its just under $300. This one is a gas oven, but you can find other “types” such as electric and charcoal. I just really like the gas option because its quick, easy and safe. It has a whopping 60,000 BTUs! It can cook, as one would expect, 2 x faster than any other oven out there. You also can cook smaller or larger pizzas in this oven – up to 16 inches in diameter.

Best Griddle

If its a griddle you want, this is a really good one to consider. Its from Toastmaster. A lot of people don’t realize just how much they will use a griddle until they have one. This isn’t just for eggs guys. You can make pancakes on here as well as other breakfast foods like hash browns, steak, and eggs, you can saute or grill up veggies for eggs or quiche, you can also make crepes. For lunch, you can make Philly cheese steaks, kielbasa, grilled cheese, paninis, even quesadillas. For dinner; grilled chicken breast, dish, taco meat, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. Heck, you can even make dessert items like grilled peaches with bourbon and ice cream, donuts, grill pineapple for pineapple upside down cake, etc. The sky is the limit! The toastmaster griddle is 24” in polished steel. Its super professional and yet super easy to use and clean. Some other ones to consider; Blackstone 36 Inch, Blackstone 28 Inch, and Blackstone 36 Inch in all Stainless Steel. I really love the look of stainless steel!

Best Outdoor Smoker

As one would expect, if you’re looking for the best smoker, chances are you will see a popular brand name. This one is a Weber. It comes in 14, 18 and 22-inch option and can either come with or without the cover. But, if you’re going to get a smoker, just get the cover – it will help you take care of and it will last for longer! You can make so many delicious foods on smokers. Its insane. From smoked chicken to ribs, to beef jerky, smoked fish and more. This one has a built-in thermometer, as well as a silicone grommet for the probe. Its also made from aluminum which works really well for any grill – great for insulation, but it also won’t rust. The main power source of this one is charcoal, but again, you can find different power sources, I just love charcoal grills when it comes to smokers. This one also has a porcelain-enameled water pan inside the smoker which means no matter what type of protein you cook, it’ll stay moist.

Best Propane Grill

This is another Weber grill, this time as a propane grill. You can either choose from a 2 or 3 burner option, but either way, you can expect to find a grill that is worthy of being a best seller. The 3 burners will give you 32,000 BTUs while the 2 will give you 26,500 BTUs. There’s quite a bit of room to cook on this grill – the primary cooking area is 360 square inches, with a 90 square inch warming area. The warming area is a great place to keep cooked foods that need to be held over until your guests are ready to eat, but you can also place buns and bread in this area to warm them up. Out of all the features, people say that they love this specific grill because its easy to put together, its beautiful made, and its incredibly sturdy. In fact, most of the people that bought this grill have said that they were buying it to replace another grill – one in which they had for years and really loved, and the Weber not only became a replacement but something that they loved even more than their prior grill. THAT is how good of a grill this is!

Best Charcoal Grill

Now if you plan on eating and cooking outdoors, but you don’t necessarily need or have the space for an actual kitchen, that’s okay. You can do it the way millions of other people do it, by utilizing a charcoal grill. People always go between electric, propane, gas a charcoal grills because each one has its own benefits, as well as disadvantages. This is also a Weber grill called the Original Kettle 22 inch. Chances are if you’ve ever had a BBQ or eaten at one, you’ve seen one of these bad boys in action. It has the dark black kettle bowl that is synonymous with charcoal grills. Inside, you’ll find an ash catcher, as well as a one-touch cleaning system. The grate, which is 22inches in diameter is also rust resistant. 2 Inches might not seem like a lot, but let me put it to you this way, you can cook 3 large steaks, 3 baked potatoes and a bushel of asparagus on it at once. People say that they love charcoal grills because of course, you get that charbroiled taste to it. While I agree that nothing else is like a charcoal grill, I can also say that gas and propane grills come pretty damn close – without the use of chemicals and lighter fluid.
